It’s summer vacation! My favorite time of the year for being by the pool, sipping piña coladas, and taking in the sun. It’s always nice to take time off and relax whether you are going somewhere close or traveling out of the states. We all know packing can be stressful trying to decide what to take! Here are a few of my packing ‘must-haves’ to make this chore a little easier.
For long trips, it’s always a good idea to have a full luggage set, but it’s a weekend getaway, so invest in the perfect weekender. Try Vera Bradley’s Grand Traveler. It has enough room for 3 full days of outfits, with plenty of pockets to keep you organized. If you just can’t travel without your rolling luggage, slip the trolley sleeve right over the handles and you are set to jet. My favorite pattern is Camofloral. For those lucky travelers leaving the states, keep your papers safe and stylish with kate spades passport holder, ‘Bon Voyage!’
If you’re like me, you don’t always plan every minute of your trip. Which can make packing a challenge. I prefer to pack pieces that can be dressed up or down. J. Crew scalloped shorts are one of my favorite styles right now. I usually pair them with a cap sleeve blouse and a cute pair of wedges. If you’re traveling with your favorite man, I can’t resist their oxford shorts! They’re sleek so you’ll love them, and they’re lightweight and comfortable, so he’ll love them too!
One of my ‘go-to’ vacation outfits that fits the ‘dress up or dress down’ rule is the maxi-dress. I fell in love with so many at Francesca’s! Whether you need a quick cover-up for the beach or are having drinks poolside, the maxi-dress suits every occasion. If you have room…throw in more than one!
Let’s not ignore the most important accessory for us girls! Shoes! For daytime sightseeing, I love wearing Vans! I grabbed a pair at Journeys. They have a variety of solids and patterns to choose from. I especially love wearing them on my travel days because they slip on and off easily when going through security.
We can’t forget our toiletries! My two faves are from Ulta Beauty. Clinique Face Wipes are compact and so convenient for a quick refresh on the go. I don’t leave home without Klorane Dry Shampoo for quick touchups. It smells great, it’s vegan and best yet…doesn’t leave that white residue in my hair! I am all about the ease of getting ready so I can spend more time having fun and less time getting ready!
Congrats! You’re now packed! All that is left is your travel day outfit! Remember to layer so you’re prepared for any temperature. I found the comfiest streetwear at PUMA that is perfect for a plane, train, or car! I chose their rollups sweats with a drawstring cord. I also found a similar style for men. I paired it with a classic logo tank and a full-zip hoodie.
When you finally arrive at your destination, you’ll be ready to let the stress melt away and enjoy the warm summer sun!
